What A Difference A Couple Years make…

Well for all you Sex And The City (SATC) Fans, like myself, the day has finally arrived…The sequel to the very popular and highly successful movie based on the HBO series of the same name, was released to public audiences today. And yes, what a difference two years has made. I love everything SATC, I own the trivia game, a copy of the first movie, the CD from the first movie and have seen almost every entire episode of all 6 seasons, (NB it is six seasons and not seven ‘cause the last season had two parts). Anyway, two years ago, around this exact time, I was in full party planning mode for the release of the first movie and boy was that a party. Complete with our own signature cocktails, my girlfriend Wendi and I had a really good turnout and then we all went to view the movie on opening day. You can read about that experience in an earlier post, dated 6/5/08.

But fast forward two years to the present, and for some strange reason, I have not had the zeal or felt quite the same amount of excitement that I did for the first movie. Don’t get me wrong, I have all intentions of going to see the movie this weekend, but it is just going to be with much less fanfare. I heard that there are a lot of twists and plots that were kept top secret, and I even read in the latest issue of Marie Claire, (which BTW has Sarah Jessica Parker aka Carrie Bradshaw, the main character not only on the front, but also on the back cover. Hhhmmm, I wonder how many other actresses have had that distinction?) Anyway, I heard that the script was printed on paper that was treated so that it could not be photocopied or reproduced and leaked to the media. The producers sure did go through a lot of trouble to make sure that the movie’s plot was not revealed…LOL

SATC has a cult like following and a friend of mine, Rocky who works in this trendy boutique, siad women were coming into her store to get outfits to go to see the movie, spending upwards of $200. Last time around I had two outfits, one for the party and then one for the movie and I had on my I love SATC t-shirt, from SJP's Bitten clothing line. This time around, I haven't even so much as thought about what to wear. What a difference a couple years will make...

For all you fans out there, let me know what your SATC plans are and what you thought about the new movie!
