Rekindlng the Romance Mid-flight? I Think Not...

So on a recent flight to NYC, I was getting settled in my seat and making myself comfortable to go to sleep, because I find that I can get a decent couple of hours of sleep and not be too troubled by the fact that I am losing consciousness and putting all my faith and trust in captain and crew. Crazy, huh? I looked up and then in a totally "Made for TV" moment... BAM! I see my ex-boyfriend. OK, so I need to give some background info here, we dated more than 8 yrs ago, it ended on a sour note, but over the years we have remained amicable, in fact at one point we even talked about "rekindling the romance". We have been in contact more recently and I was well aware that he lived in the NY Tri-State area, but it was definitely a very big coincidence that we were on the same flight.

Anyway, I waved in his general direction and it was apparent that he had not seen me waving. So I decided to call him before the flight attendants made the announcement for all passengers to take their phones off. As soon as he answered I said, "Look behind you", he promptly turned around and started laughing and said, "I was wondering why you were calling me right this moment.” So, there was some mix-up with his seat and he was asked to move, and wouldn’t you know it there was an empty seat right next me in the middle… So he came over and sat next to me right? No, wrong, the passenger at the window seat, a female, a Pastor nonetheless was pretty adamant that she did not want anyone to come sit in the middle, least of all my ex-boyfriend who would keep her awake with his chatter while we got a chance to catch up. No, instead he was given another seat, three rows forward on the opposite side, but before he took his seat he came over and gave me a big old kiss, much to the amusement of all the other passengers, and loudly proclaimed, “I love you!”

After finally sitting down, he mouthed to me, “I am going to propose over the PA system…” and then tried to get the attention of the nearest flight attendant. I quickly mouthed, “No, please don’t do that!!!” Surprisingly enough he acquiesced and the flight continued without any further theatrics, and yes folks he did carry my bags for me when we got off the plane, see chivalry is not dead yet…

But it did make we wonder... Is it really possible to rekindle a romance after a certain number of years have passed? Let me know what you think...
